Thankfully, the people at IndyCar have finally decided to disengage their heads from the up and locked position by accepting that ‘open-wheels’ actually mean ‘all-open, all the time’.
While I’m not a particular fan of Dallara and their tendencies toward building cookie-cutter race car designs, the new retro racer looks its part for a change. Depending on the livery, the new IndyCar looks different from team to team at visual level, while early team tests seem to suggest that the car itself is pleasingly ‘different’ as well.
Here’s hoping that the end of the Batmobile era is well and truly dead, or in more socialized terms hashtag #NoRearEndWheelCapsEverAgain.
